Dry cleaning is when specific chemicals are applied to an item, gently brushed in, then vacuumed. No water is used in this process. Most upholstery can be water cleaned, yet, not all. Check the label to see whether is reads “W” for water cleaning or “S” for solvent cleaning (dry cleaning). Dry cleaning has its possible negative factors too. Sometimes the solvents can break down certain types of backing material within the upholstery. Also, solvent cleaning does not work well for water-based stains.

After the area or item has been seen and cost estimated, a time can be approximated. Cleaning times can vary though, due to the amount of work it actually takes to do the job.

Drying times vary due to what and how dirty the item is. After the job has been completed a more approximate time can be given. Wall to wall carpeting usually will take less than 24 hours to dry. Some area carpets might take up to 48 hours. Upholstery will usually take less than 24 hours to dry.
